BBFC Women take out first silverware of the season

Our Spell Women’s squad took the clubs first silverware of the season on anzac day with a 5-1 win over Rovers.

Played at Lismore Oaks oval in wet and muddy conditions, the girls dug deep to claim the Callan Mcmillan A division trophy. Byron Bay FC are now level with Alstonville for the most Callan McMillan wins (6)

The first half started with high energy from both teams, back and forth attacks getting used to the conditions when Byron found their groove and started to pen Rovers into their half with some dominant possession. Byron scored around the 20-30 minute mark after some relentless attacks. We scored another 10 minutes later which put us 2-0 up at the half time break with both goals from Ruby Smith.

Ruby got her hattrick after 10 minutes into the 2nd half. She then had to shoot off at 55 minutes to pick up her brother up from Brisbane airport flying over from New Zealand. Kirra dale sealed the win with 2 more goals to make it 5-0 after 70 minutes. Rovers took a conciliation goal from a corner in the final 10 minutes.

Player of the match: Ruby Smith
