Important update on the Byron Bay FC Recreational Grounds Drainage Plan.
A great week of training for our keen young players all came to naught when the rain came hammering down last Thursday night and just didn’t stop.
As you know, over the past two years, BBFC has invested significantly in upgrading our facilities, including over $2.5 million on the new clubhouse and ground lighting. Our next key priorities are implementing effective drainage solutions, followed by the installation of a new boundary fence.
The recent heavy rainfall has unfortunately led to the closure of all grounds in the region. While improved drainage wouldn't have prevented all disruptions given the extent of the weather, we recognize the urgent need for these essential upgrades.
The Byron Bay Council are unfortunately not in a position to provide funding for these projects therefore, we are actively pursuing State and Federal Grants to make these initiatives a reality.
We have obtained engineering plans in recent years, with a current quote of approximately $250,000 for the necessary drainage work. We are in the process of applying for grants to help finance this critical infrastructure upgrade however, the timeline for these grants and our success in securing them will determine when we can proceed.
Byron Bay FC has a plan in place, however its implementation is contingent on securing additional funding. If you or your organization are in a position to assist BBFC with this, please do not hesitate to reach out to us at :sponsorship@byronbayfc.com.au
We are committed to keeping you informed about our progress with the drainage plan. In the meantime, we share your hope that the weather improves soon, allowing us to reschedule the many games that have been affected.
