The Byron Bay Rams 2nds were crowned football champions with a 3-1 pounding of Richmond Rovers last Friday.
The final was always going to be a great game, with both teams having strong seasons - Richmond finishing first and Byron Bay second on the ladder.
The first half was an end-to-end affair with neither side being able to put their chances away.
Byron came out on fire in the second half and took the advantage when Rovers conceded a penalty under the pressure. Byron continued their fluid passing game and was rewarded with a second goal from a header off a beautiful Byron free kick.
Rovers stepped up their game and managed to get a bit of a sniff with a converted corner, but Byron sealed the game with 10 minutes to go, Kym Gilham latching onto a through ball and beating the keeper to get his hat-trick.
It was a great end to an amazing season and another brilliant team performance by the Bay.
A big thank you and congratulations to James Saunders, the team and all the supporters.
