14 girls beaten in a nail-biter

Our 14 girls put in a huge effort in their first trip to the grand final. Taking on a very skilled and experienced Thistles side the girls played their hearts out, creating a number of chances and defending solidly at the other end.

The game started well with plenty of attack and striker India looked to be through with the ball a number of times only to be routed by the talented Thistles centre back. Our mid-field was outstanding, Sabine and Sophia putting in a tireless effort in regaining possession and getting the ball forward again. As the game wore on Thistles created a number of promising chances but were kept out by great defense from Amber and some outstanding goal-keeping from Ella. With the scores locked at nil all at the end of normal time, the girls rallied tired legs as they headed into extra time. Thistles piled on plenty of pressure and in the 2nd half of extra time managed to sneak a goal in. The girls weren't disheartened though, almost immediately starting an attack where Sophia ran nearly the length of the field, bringing the ball to the edge of the 18 yeard box only for the referee to blow full-time.

A great effort from the girls and Greg.
