The Summer Youth League (SYL) kicks-off this week with defending champions Byron Bay traveling to Alstonville on Friday to take on the Red & Black.

Byron Bay have won the past two SYL seasons and are the most successful team in the male competition having won it five times. They take on an Alstonville squad who are expected to be title contenders.

The squad is built around a core of players aged 20-years-old and under, with a sprinkling of over-aged players to help the youngsters adjust and develop by training and playing with (and against) older opposition.

The female SYL team also travel to Alstonville on Friday where they will take on last season’s champions. Byron are one of only a handful of clubs who have competed in all four female SYL competitions and will be looking to improve on their best ever result of third, earned in the 2017 competition.

With a strong season predicted, the club hopes to see supporters get along to matches this year, especially home games. The full season draw is available by clicking here.
