Byron Bay FC was the first regional club in New South Wales to establish an elite player program when it launched the High Performance Program (HPP) in 2019.

The new model was the first of its kind outside the big cities and is modelled on the A-League Academy programs run by clubs such as Western Sydney Wanderers and Sydney FC.

Teams in the HPP provide a developmental pathway not only to the club’s Summer Youth League and senior teams, but also to NPL and A-League clubs in the cities.

Trials are held in February each year with both girls and boys welcome. Players who are successful in their trial will be offered a position in one of Byron Bay FC’s HPP squads.

HPP squads:

  • Train twice a week

  • Play in Football Far North Coast’s Division 1 age competitions

  • Are coached by some of the best youth coaches in the region
