A goal in extra time from Rory Wilson has propelled Byron Bay High School into the quarter-finals of the Combined High Schools State Football Cup.

Wilson nailed a header to give his side the 2-1 win with just two minutes remaining on the clock against Mitchell High School from Blacktown in Sydney yesterday.

"It was a great match and we had a big crowd on the school oval," Byron coach Shane Wilson said. "We've got a very good group of players and a mixture of junior and senior students in the team."

Sequoya Rawson-Smith [BBFC player] scored the other goal for Byron Bay and was one of the team's best. Toby Barton and Harper Hain [BBFC player] also impressed.
