Summer Youth League Round 3 The young ‘up-and-ccomers’ of the SAE-Quantm Byron Bay Summer Youth League squad came into their own in round three of this year’s youth competition.
Coach John Bradbury has given the debutantes a great run in key positions this year and the youngsters have risen to the challenge.
With support from veterans, Byron Milne, Tane Meek, George Martin and Nathan Burvill, the younger boys really made their mark on Friday’s clash with the Woodburn side.
Adam Budd opened the scoring, tapping in a sharp cut-back from Byron Milne, while Ronan Karup hustled the ball into the net in a goal mouth skirmish then followed up with a drive from the 18 yard box to take Byron’s goal tally to three. Woodburn managed one goal in reply, but the young Rams were clearly a cut above the visitors.
The 3-1 win takes Byron to third on the ladder, with some tough matches to come.
This week’s round sees Byron take on Bangalow, in Bangalow, with a 6.30pm kick off. The Byron derby always produces entertaining football so be there to support our young chargers.
