Saturday July 13 saw the Byron Bay Rams travel to Casino for Round 12 of the Football Far North Coast Premier League competition. A depleted Rams squad had quite a few players stepping up for both matches. The Byron Reserves started the day well for the Rams with a comfortable 5 goals to 1 win. The game started with the Rams' George Martin, Mark Greenslade, Tane Meek and Lachlan (I'm free!) Baines controlling the midfield and providing plenty of chances for the front runners. It wasn't long before that dominance bore fruit and by half time, goals to George Martin, Tane Meek and Sebastian Bell had them comfortably placed.

More goals to Steve Kirkpatrick and Layton Barton in the second half took the total to 5. Casino did manage a consolation goal but the Rams defence marshalled by Nathan Burvill, Yantra Whitling and Farren Lathen-O’Brien ensured no further goals would be scored. Best for the Rams in a fine team effort were Tane, Yantra, Nathan and Farren.

It was a similar result in Premier division with the Rams dominance resulting in a fine 6-0 win. The scoring was opened when evergreen Bruce Morhaus turned on a fine pass and drilled the ball into the net. Soon after, Sebastian Bell broke away from the half way mark to outpace the Casino defence and calmly put the ball away. The Rams were playing a slick passing game with George Martin, Herick Schuenemann, Sam Owens and Layton Barton controlling the game. The third goal from George Martin followed a great interchange of passes by the Rams and a clinical finish that gave the Casino goalkeeper no chance. Barton finished the scoring before the break with a tap in from a Sam Owens cross. Four nil at half time and the Rams were on fire. The second half saw further chances put away by Bell and Barton to finalise another comfortable win to the Rams and another clean sheet for the defence. Best for the Rams in a dominant performance were George Martin, Sebastian Bell, Lucas O'Donnell, Layton Barton and James Tomlinson.

The win puts the Rams second on the table, five points behind Thistles with a game in hand. Next week is another away game for the Rams when the meet Rovers at Rovers. Reserves kick off at 1pm and the Prems at 3pm.
